Ilia Beauty is still one of the very few organic brands that, at the time of writing this post, has lipsticks in a bullet (most of the competitors use pots).
I have used several of their lipsticks in the past and today I am reviewing humble me, a nude colour.
PERFORMANCE: it goes on the lips quite smoothly but it feels a little bit drying. I need to apply a lip balm underneath. The colour is very light and tends to make me look dead. The issue that I have with Ilia lipsticks is that they are fragranced and I am not a fan.
The lipstick in Humble Me is ideal if you want to achieve a Brigitte Bardot look, with nude lips and smokey eyes. It is a colour that is very easy to apply as it has very little pigment. It reminds me of Belle e Jour by Nars.
Overall if you don’t have a problem with the scent/taste it can be a good lipstick. It depends also on the colour, and whether you can pull off such a nude/deal like tone. Personally I am not a fan: I prefer Nobody’ Baby by Ilia or Captivate by Kjaer Weis. They are warmer and more wearable with my skin tone.
INGREDIENTS: Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Beeswax (Cera Alba)*, Triisostearyl Citrate, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch*, Linum Usitatissimum (Linseed) Flax Seed*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf*, Tocopherol. May contain: Mica, Titanium Dioxide CI77891, Black Oxide CI77499, Yellow Oxide CI77492, Red Oxide CI77491, Red 7 CI15850, Red 28 CI45410, Yellow 5 CI19140. *Certified Organic Ingredients. Ingrédients Certifiés Biologiques.
SCENT: very noticeable if, like me, you are sensitive to scents. It is sort of an oil/flower scent. It is very persistent.
HOW TO USE IT: this lipstick can be applied directly from the bullet. It can also be applied with fingers as a stain or with a lip brush for more precision.
As the colour is very light it is fool proof as there is not that much to get it wrong. Careful if you have very pigmented lips as this will look like putting like foundation on them.
On the left Humble Me and on the right Nobody’s Baby
Starting from the left: Captivate by Kjaer Weis, Humble Me and Nobody’s Baby by Ilia.
On the left Captivate by Kjaer Weis (it has some golden particles that give life to the colour) and Humble Me on the right
CONTENT AND PACKAGING:
4 grams. The packaging is the usual lovely metallic bullet. The cap clicks and it does not slide off easily. The bullet is contained in a carton box (eggplant colour).

I purchased the sample with my money. It was NOT sent by PR and I did not receive any money to post this review.
