RMS Beauty has just launched 18 powder eyeshadows: no coconut oil in sight. I decided to buy the colour in Tobacco Road, an olive/grey that should be great for hazel eyes.
There are 6 “families” with 3 colours each:
Twilight Madness (grey / black)
Sunset Beach (yellows / golds)
Tempting Touch (beiges / tans)
Tobacco Road (greens / browns)
Garden Rose (pinks)
Enchanted Moonlight (purples / burgundies)
PERFORMANCE: the eyeshadows can be used both dry (for a lighter touch) or wet (they go on very heavy). When used dry I apply the Tobacco Road with a Mac 217 and I have to apply at least 3 layers to get some pay off. There is no pigment: it is more a whisper of colour. The good thing is that even if you apply several layers it never looks chalky or tacky.
The texture is very smooth and buttery. It is “just” the lack of pigment that requires some major “piling up”. When used wet I get some water and I dip the Shu Uemura flat eye brush in the water (not soaking wet!) and then I get some eyeshadow from the pan. When I apply the eyeshadow wet it is like plaster. The finish is very heavy and it reminds me of crocodile skin.
The payoff is not even: I like the texture but I do not like the colour (it looks like a bruise!) and it is too flat dry and too uneven when applied wet.
The eyeshadow lasts quite well throughout the day and if applied dry (at least three layers) it creases slightly, nothing major.
It is not a miss, but it is just average. I prefer the eyeshadows by Kjaer Weis.
INGREDIENTS: Mica, Silica, *Mauritia Flexuosa (Buriti) Fruit Oil, Zinc Stearate, *Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Tocopherol (non-GMO), *Rosmarinus Officials (Rosemary) Extract
May Contain [+/-]: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxide (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499)
HOW TO USE IT: it can be used dry and wet. When used dry the colour is buidlable and it goes from barely there to visible. When applied wet with a flat brush it gets very noticeable.
applied with two layers. Natural light no flash.

CONTENT AND PACKAGING:
2,5grams. The packaging looks very cheap: it is completely made of white plastic and you cannot see the content of the product. This can be an issue if you buy more than one colour as you would have to store it with the back label visible and should know the name/numbers of the colour by heart.
WHERE TO BUY:

I purchased the product with my money. It was NOT sent by PR and I did not receive any money to post this review.
