I have started testing Josh Rosebrook’s products as I really like his philosophy of super clean ingredients and no waffle approach. He reminds me of one of my favourite brands, Dr Alkaitis. I like that Josh Rosebrook makes samples available to allow people to try before you buy (due to the excellent quality of the ingredients and the people being involved in the manufacturing process being paid fairly his products are not cheap so making a mistake that costs 95 euros is not pleasant!). Making samples available also shows confidence in his own brand, which I appreciate.
PERFORMANCE: when it comes to the green beauty world one of the trickiest products to find is the SPF. As nano particles are a no-no usually green sunscreens are pasty and leave a white cast, especially if the level of protection is SPF30 +. Josh Rosebrook does two types of cream with SPF30: neutral and tinted.
The Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream is an excellent moisturising cream with SPF30, that does the job and does not leave a white cast at all. The coloured version is even sheerer than a tinted moisturiser and evens out the skin tone. I am very pale and it is basically transparent, even if before applying it on the face and neck it looks scraggly beige! The cream is very easy to spread, it is not pasty and literally melts into the skin. It can be used under the makeup (it is not sticky or greasy) and most of all does not leave a white cast even if it is SPF30!
I use it whilst I am hanging out and about – not at the beach. Actually I do not sunbathe, but should I decide to go to the beach I would switch for a heavy duty SPF50. For daily use this is a great product. It does not contain ANY essential oil (finally!!!) and there is no risk of photosensitivity.
Definitely a winner. I prefer this cream to the De Mamiel’s Exhale Daily Hydrating Nectar SPF30. It contains more product (60ml vs 50ml), it is slightly cheaper and most of all it is basically scent free and EO free.

SCENT: mild and slightly “herbaceous”. It dissipates very quickly.
HOW TO USE IT: Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream can be used by itself during the day to protect your face and neck from UVA and UVB. Or you can layer it: use the Hydrating Accelerator first, a serum/face oil and then use this cream with SPF30 to protect your face from the damaging effects of the sun.
If it is very hot perspiration can make the cream “migrate” on your face and into the eyes. Try to apply the cream not too close to the eyes to avoid this phenomenon.
Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream should be re-applied every two hours, but if you use makeup this can be tricky (use sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat in summer).
The best way to apply the cream is as shown by Josh himself on his Instagram account: put three small pumps on the fingers – one on the index, one on the middle and one on the ring finger. Then gently pat the product on your face, neck and ears (yep, the ears are a neglected area when it comes to skincare!).
out of the pot it is a quite concentrated beige cream. Once massaged into the skin it disappears completely and does not leave any white cast at all. It is not greasy or shiny. It works very well as a base for make up.
In the pic below, on the right the Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream Tinted taken directly from the pot. It looks very beige. But once patted into the skin it disappears completely.
Massaged into the skin (no flash): no white cast, orange or greasy residue.
CONTENT AND PACKAGING:
it is available in two formats, 30 and 60ml. It comes in a bottle with a pump. There is also the coloured version, which I will review very soon.
